SENI GLAISTER

Before my first novel was published in 2012, nobody had warned me that the job of a writer is very different to that of an author. The first is a solitary occupation, requiring no interaction with, or input from, anyone else. The second demands a team working in perfectly synchronised harmony - editors, marketeers, publicists, booksellers and - of course - an army of readers.

Before writing, I was a bookseller for nearly thirty years and I found it very easy to champion other authors' works. In fact, nothing gave me more pleasure and satisfaction than discovering new authors and doing my bit to usher them into the limelight.

As it turns out, however, I'm far less comfortable talking about my own books than those of my fellow authors. So this website is my first (hesitant) step on that path. With three books under my belt, several foreign editions gracing my shelves and a plethora of future-books in my head that I'm excited to commit to paper, it's time for me to get as comfortable with the role of author as I am with the role of writer.
